We encourage the baptismal request form to be submitted 3 months prior to desired date.
Baptism is so much more than a “welcoming” ceremony. It’s an event in which time and eternity meet in the most momentous manner imaginable. God himself reaches down from heaven and writes his name on an individual’s heart, instantaneously altering the entire trajectory of that person’s life forever! Of course, this is a great gift and it comes with great responsibility on the part of the parents and godparents, who make an oath before God to raise this child in relationship with the living God. It is our great privilege and obligation at the Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe to help you prepare to make that commitment. If you would like to learn more, please read on.
Preparation for the big day starts months and years before a couple is even married. Their presence in the community through Sunday Mass and parish events along with an active prayer life and regular confession lay the ground work to successfully pass on the faith to their little one. Through the parents the child learns, experiences, witnesses, and lives what it means to be a friend and follower of Jesus.
What can a couple do if they find themselves in a situation in which they have been away from active faith as described above? To assure that those involved in a child's baptism are able to succeed in fostering the newly baptized's relationship with Jesus and Holy Mother Church, we ask that parents seeking the baptism of their child reach out to the Parish at least 3-4 months before their desired baptism date. This gives families time to grow into the faith through attending Mass on Sundays at the Parish, meeting with Andrew the Discipleship Director to plot out a growth plan, participate in baptism preparation, meet with a welcome/mentor couple prior to the baptism. We also highly recommend participation in the Rescue Project.
Please complete the Baptism Registration Form below; you may mail or email the form to us. Once received, the form will be forwarded to Andrew Zeisel, our Discipleship Director, and he will contact you to discuss the next steps.
"It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came down from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." - Mark 1: 9-11
