Baptism is the first of seven sacraments and the way in which a person becomes a member of the Catholic Church. It is a Sacrament of Initiation and allows the sanctifying grace of God to enter one's soul. Canon Law teaches that parents have an obligation to have their children baptized and it should be done within “the first few weeks of birth.”
To assure that those involved in a child's baptism understand the importance of what they are asking of the Church, parents (and godparents, if possible) are required to meet with a Church representative prior to the baptism; at our parish, the meeting is generally done with one of our deacons.
During this time of COVID, the in-person meeting for the baptism preparation has become more difficult, so meeting via a video phone call is preferred. The necessary time for the meeting requires 1 to 1-1/2 hours of uninterrupted time. It is suggested you schedule the class 3 months prior to the baby’s arrival. (If you've had a class within 4 years for your other children, the class requirement may be waived.)
Baptisms are generally scheduled to occur after any weekend Mass; the date can be set upon receipt of the Baptism Registration Form, provided it falls after completion of the preparation class.
Please complete the Baptism Registration Form below if you would like your child baptized at our parish; you may mail or email the form to us.
"It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came down from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." Mark 1: 9-11
